As an entrepreneur, I’m committed to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes.

We are constantly learning and part of our objective for 2013 is to bring Evelyn Brooks Designs to higher rankings on Google ORGANICALLY.

So what does this mean for us? Organically building a business takes time and a lot of work, but the rewards are great. And one thing that’s actually helped us a lot is Google.

Google offers several beneficial training and business tutorials. They take you step-by-step through the process of how Google recognizes your website and company, how that information is processed and ultimately how it ends up in a person’s search results.

Google also offers advice on how to build a loyal online community that is centered around your product, service, brand and company.

The importance of this knowledge for a small business is priceless. So that’s what Google did. They offer tons of helpful apps and programs for small businesses like Evelyn Brooks Designs. Just to name a few that we have gotten comfortable with are: Google Places, Google+ for Business and Google Merchants.

Yes, these are simple things to do, but the overall outcome of putting your business in Google’s archives is huge. By putting our business on Google Places, we will now come up on Google Maps. By creating a business page on Google+, users will be able to see our business and visit our website and social media channels. Finally, with Google Merchants, our products will end up in Google searches when people shop on Google.

Google also explains how to become a pro at SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, in about 10 minutes.

As a small business, you may not have the budget to hire a SEO specialist, but if you do have the funds, you need to be careful about who you hire.  Make sure this person is someone serious, professional and experienced. This might seem obvious, but if you don’t hire the right person (and this can go for all of your potential employees), then you are wasting precious time and energy fixing mistakes.

Google can help your business in many ways. We have been doing a lot of research about Google and other tools we can use to get Evelyn Brooks Designs to higher rankings on Google and other search engines, as well as building our online community.
