TELEMUNDO NOTICIAS WASHINGTON DC visits the studio of Evelyn Brooks Designs on a very special day celebrating “International Women’s Day”

I was able to share my work, how is my life as a mompreneur, my studio where I make my pieces and my new showroom, where I exhibit my jewelry designs and also other Peruvian Alpaca brands like Inkamoda & Nyms-Fashion from Peru.

During my interview I talked about how I get my seeds to make my collections, how I make my pieces, how long they take to make, we also had a chance to make a piece from my heartbeat collection and more…

It is my intention to motivate and inspire other immigrant women to follow their dreams to work hard for what they want but also to not stop being a wife, a girlfriend, a sister, a mom; balance it all and you will see that everything is possible.

Kennedy Center-pdfLast Spring I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Museum Store Association conference and trade show. Where many artists, jewelry designers, buyers, and industry leaders gathered to learn and grow in the Museum field. During the conference, I had the opportunity to network with some of the top leaders from different Museum organizations around the United States.

One of the persons I had the opportunity to network with was the Director of Retail Operations for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She thought it would be a good idea to bring my Peruvian Jewelry inspired designs, into the Kennedy Center and asked me if I would be interested in having a trunk show. Of course I was thrilled, we exchanged information and we talked after the show to have my first jewelry trunk show at the Kennedy Center.

Since that day, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has hosted three trunk shows for Evelyn Brooks Designs. Yes, of course I was scared at first because I didn’t know what to expect, I always hope for the best of course. The response was positive, many customers fell in love with the story of the Peruvian huayruros, the richness of their red color, they uniqueness and meaning.  The story, inspiration, presentation and prices were well received.

Volunteers, friends of the Kennedy Center and of course customers from all over the United States who attend the Kennedy Center have appreciated my work and have been complimented in many ways my Peruvian inspired jewelry collection. I have had the opportunity see customers come back for more pieces. Overall, it is been a great experience and I look forward to come back. Rumor says maybe in May. Of course I will let you  know
